Can I buy the book on your web site?
Why, yes, you can. Follow this convenient link,
or click on the "Buy" button in the navigation bar above, or select the
convenient link in the right-hand column.
Why charge a penny for shipping? Why not just make it free?
We can't. The e-commerce vendor doesn't allow no charge in the shipping
entry field. A penny is the next best thing.
How come your web site's so lame?
It's built for speed, my friend. Lazy Bachelors don't have time to
wait for fancy imagemaps and flash movies to download. They have things
to do, places to go, beers to drink. Until I see the research that says
"fancy graphics equals more traffic," I'll keep it as lean and fast as I can.
What's your privacy policy?
Basically, under normal circumstances, we don't give, sell, rent, or lend your
personal information to anyone. Period. If you get spammed, it's
not from us.
What does "Marram" mean?
Marram is a kind of beach grass that grows in sand dunes, including
the sand dunes near us on Lake Michigan. Marram grass will grow
in bare sand, stabilizing the dune so that other soil accumulates,
which allows other plants to grow. We liked the idea of a plant
that could grow on its own, without much nourishment, so we named
our company "Marram." Our logo shows a tuft of marram grass against
the sun setting over Lake Michigan.
What's Marram Publishing? Are you like a division of
Random House or something?
No, we're just a small publishing company. Very small In fact, we
founded the company to publish The Lazy Bachelor's Cookbook (which
you can conveniently buy right here on this web site).
Can women be Lazy Bachelors?
Oh, my, yes. Some of the laziest
bachelors I've known are women. While I would estimate 90% -
95% of young, single men are Lazy Bachelors, the percentage
of young, single women who are Lazy Bachelors is probably
smaller, though it's hard to tell. I think because some
women feel there is value in not being thought of as
a lazy bachelor they are they may try to hide it.
Just a guess, though.
Why don't you use the term "bachelorette?"
I always hated that word. It has a
gaudy, cheap, 1970's, "Dating Game" kind of connotation about it
which I have always disliked. The suffix "ette" means "little,"
and I have never thought women Lazy Bachelors were lesser in
stature or laziness to men.
